It is with great excitement that Ormeau Shearers RLFC announce the return to Rugby League Gold Coast A Grade in the 2022 season. After missing the 2021 A Grade, the club will be fielding teams in A Grade, Reserve Grade and Under 20’s in the 2022 RLGC Senior Competition. The future looks bright following the successful year in 2021 which yielded our DMC team as Grand Finalist’s, U18 Division 2 Premiers and U/18’s Division 1 Preliminary Finalists.
We are also excited to announce the appointment of Stuart Wilkins as the Head Coach of the 2022 A Grade team. Stuart comes with a wealth of experience having been a former lower grade player and coach at Manly Sea Eagles. He has also coached a number of successful A Grade teams in Sydney. More recently Stuart was the A Grade coach at Burleigh Bears from 2016-2018, winning the 2017 Gold Coast A Grade competition and being awarded the 2017 Gold Coast Senior Coach of the Year.
Stuart said, “I’m excited to be undertaking this new challenge and develop Ormeau Shearers into a competitive committed A Grade rugby league side. I am also excited to be working within a significant growth area of the Gold Coast and to assist in any way I can to develop the rich talent within the local area”.
We are also excited to announce a ‘Pathways’ program with the 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗹𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝘂𝗽 side and 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗹𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟭 𝗛𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝘁𝘀 (HDC) representative side. This gives Ormeau Shearers the pathway to develop those elite players with the intention to provide '𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 & 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹' opportunities at both Queensland Cup and HDC level providing our local juniors a clear pathway to the NRL. As part of this pathway we also have the opportunity to provide Coaching Development to enhance our skill base at a professional level.
We are now looking for rugby league players to come and join the Ormeau Shearers and help build an exciting future. Any players who are interested in undertaking a marquee/leadership role are encouraged to contact the Ormeau Shearers via Dale Bowden (Senior Operations) 0402020639 or Stuart Wilkins (Head Coach) on 0408208518.

The Club would like to thank our sponsors, coaches & managers, sports trainers, ground managers, timekeepers, duty officials, ball boys/girls, our many volunteers and also our dedicated players & their families for their time & support throughout the season.
A special thank you to our amazing canteen staff and their families and to Jodie, Dean and Fiona who keep our facilities looking amazing.
The commitment to both the season and the club is to be commended!
Congratulations to all Ormeau teams on a hugely successful season. Our youngest teams saw players playing their first ever games of rugby league and our 7 year olds were finally allowed to play tackle, they were so excited. It was amazing to see the enthusiasm of all non competitive teams on game days. Field 2 was full of talented players developing skills and preparing for competition football in the years to come. We are excited to be a part of their journey.
